New Years Eve Makeup Tutorial

This look is so easy to achieve & looks beautiful on literally everyone!

This was a VERY requested look on New Years Eve when I worked at MAC. For 4 years straight, I did looks similar to this on girls at the MAC store. It’s timeless, flattering, simple & screams New Years Eve!

Enjoy the highlights, glitter & champagne!

Happy New Year!!

    Hiii Jaclyn;)
You could do “face of the day” here on you´re fantastic blog, where you just post pictures of you´re as always beautiful make-up and then off course write what you did and which products you used. I actually saw you´re sister do something like this on her blog but i got the idea from the danish blogger “nordicbeautysecrets.bloggersdelight.dk”.
I hope you will consider the idea, also i would love to see “first impressions” on you´re youtube channel, which by the way i am a huge fan off:)
i´ve learned so much from you´re videos, and no joke probably watched each and one off them 50 times, loooove them so much.
The best days are when you post <3

i love you! youre the best i watch sand try to do sll of your looks my only request is that u use more of one line instead of ten diff lines ones product at a time its very hard to ever,,,ever,, copy ypur exact look because u kiterally use four or five diff lines usually st least three diff colors by three diff lines just for your eyes not to mention threen different lines for the face i almost never can completen your final look because im always missing a product or twon or three. its annoying!!n just once id like to have every single volor and product thst u use to complete the exact look as yours!help

Hi Jaclyn. My name is Odette and I am dominican but live in San Antonio TX. I am 32 yrs old and I have also self taught doing makeup and came across one of your videos and instantly fell in love with your personality because we are so alike and goofy! So since last week instead of watching TV which is what I normally do, now I watch all your videos and learning so much! Question: are you working at MAC and can I come in and get my makeup done by you? I would purchase anything you recommend and money is not an issue. I hope you respond! I Have never wrote to an stranger online like this before and never watch Youtube videos until I saw you by searching for tips on how to cover a mark on my face…please write me back I will really really appreciate it! Hey girl. I know we are always coming to you for tips on products, but I ran across this awesome mascara and wanted to tell you about it. You’ll love it and it’s drug store. I got mine at ulta. It’s revlon lash potion. Purple cap and green and purple container. It’s amazing mascara. Be blessed !

Love this look! I am hesitant to try looks like this because I have such bad acne scars, and even a few deeper pits from chicken pox scars, on my face. I feel like I should never put too much on my eyes because my “canvas” is never clear/clean. What products would you recommend to cover and conceal (like primers, concealers, foundation, or even other skin care products)? I know this is a specialized problem, and not applicable to many of your viewers, but I would appreciate any advice you can give! Thanks!

Love your videos! I really am appreciative that you have really dry skin – weird I know and it definitely sucks but I have really dry skin as well and it really helps seeing the face products you use that don’t end up looking cakey.

Anyways, I have a skincare question for you: The pores on your (no you specifically, people in general) nose that clog and turn black; the ones that no matter how much you squeeze them out always come back the next day (please tell me you know what I’m talking about) – what do you do about those? Please have some wonderful beauty technique that keeps them away for good :)

    Thank you!

have you ever thought about teaming up with sigma or makeup geek to make your own eye shadow palette? Like a limited edition ” jaclyn hill palette ” It would sell like hot cakes! OMG you could even name one of the shadows after your puppy! haha or “amazeballs” or “obsessed” or “guru” OMG I’m just sprouting with ideas. Anyway hope you have an amazing year! & congrats on your new place xoxo

Your makeup always looks lovely but unfortunately I have allergies and I am unable to use almost all of the products you use as I am violently allergic to parabens (and a few other ingredients:( ) Mac products in particular tend to give me a rash and make my eyes swell shut. Could you please do a tutorial using more products free of parabens, and where possible fragrance and talc ( blush and face powder particularly). I have very very dry and sensitive skin and would be interested in your suggestions.

Check out Sheer Miracle and Era Minerals. I know Sheer Miracle has a lot of skin care products without parabens but I’m sure you could email them and ask. I know that Era Minerals (www.eraminerals.com) has paraben free makeup for sure.

If you have really dry skin though, powder makeup probably isn’t the best for you (I have really dry skin too and powder foundation and matte foundation looks really cakey and heavy on me). I use liquid foundation and it works much better, I’d try googling paraben free liquid foundations if you are interested. Also, for dry skin, Sheer Miracle’s face oils are paraben free and they are amazing.

      Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for your response Natasha. I have used bare minerals and it is a great product. However, my skin has changed and is now just too dry for a powder foundation ( think close to an Egyptian mummy, no joke). Do you know if they make liquid foundations now?

          Christine Fry-

Bareminerals does not make a liquid since mineral makeup comes in powder form. I live in Alaska (a dry atmosphere + a really harsh cold winter = not a good outcome), so I understand the fight against really dry skin. I’ve been using Sheer Miracle’s Argan Oil every morning (under makeup) and night and its done wonders for my dry skin. (I’m sure any Argan Oil works – and all good argan oils are paraben free- Sheer Miracle’s is just cheaper than Josie Maran. Just make sure you give it a little time to absorb into your skin before applying makeup.)

In terms of Foundations, type “Paraben Free Foundations” into the search bar on Sephora.com and it’ll show a bunch of them (I just tried it and was surprised at the number of paraben free foundations there are, so you are in luck!). I recommend staying away from anything powder or anything with a matte finish since those are usually made for oily skin so it sucks up alllll the oils making your makeup look cakey. I actually just started using the LORAC Natural Performance Foundation (a result from the Sephora search), and I’m really liking it so far. The Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation might be a good one to try as well since it is infused with Argan Oil. I suggest looking through those search results and making a list of the ones you’re interested in, then take it with you to Sephora and get samples of them all to try. That’s what I do since foundation is NOT cheap, I want one I know I like before I commit (although Sephora has a great return policy) plus a sample will last at least a week so its not like you only have a day to decide if you like it or not.

Oh yeah and also (sorry about this novel) another really good paraben free moisturizer I have found is First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream, the cream not the face moisturizer (the cream can be used on the face and is heavier, but not like night cream heavy, than the Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer). At night I use the argan oil first, let it soak it, then layer on the cream.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions :)

I know you like money savers. I was looking at the UD setting spray when a sales girl at Ulta pointed me to Pur Minerals Miracle Mist hydrate and set spray. Its 19 for 8oz. Just an interesting product that can save money.

Thank you again Natasha that is very helpful information. I do use a lot of oils on my face already but I will try the product you mentioned. Hopefully that will give me better, longer lasting results. I live at high altitude so it is really dry here. But I was still really dry when I was in New Orleans, even in the summer! Yikes! Oh by the way, If you do not like the texture of cod liver oil like me, Carlson makes their lemon formula with omega 3 fatty acids in gelcap form. I just purchased them and it is so much better than drinking a spoonful of oil.

    Hello Jaclyn!
You’re videos are amazing and have made me want to explore so much more with make up!! However i do have a question, Of course we all have different eye shapes sometimes we see a picture of someone with beautiful makeup and want that for ourselves, but sometimes it doesn’t turn out that way unfortunately. You have an amazing eye shape and your eye makeup always looks soo flawless on you, but I do not have that eye shape, what would you recommend for people that have a “hooded” eye?… Would people with this type of eye shape still work with all your tutorials?.. I haven’t tried it yet, but i am sure wanting to.
Also, I’ve always been a person who just wears eye makeup and blush. Fortunately I do have good skin, I don’t even own foundation or powder. what would you say to people who are “afraid” to put foundation on. Do you think with all the years of no powder of foundation it can be a dramatic change to start or is there really the need for someone to wear face makeup besides blush of course! ha

Thanks again for your amazing videos!
